Shepherd’s Pie Ingredients

Method

Shepherd’s Pie Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Lamb

Add the ground lamb to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Flavorings

Stir in the tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, rosemary, and thyme. Let it simmer for another 10 minutes, adding the frozen peas in the last 2 minutes of cooking.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Pie

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, spread the lamb and vegetable mixture evenly. Top with a layer of mashed potatoes, smoothing it out with a spatula.

  5. 5

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden and the filling is bubbling.

  6. 6

    Serve

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade Shepherd’s Pie!
