Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Place the long-grain rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water. Swirl the rice with your hand to remove excess starch until the water runs clear.

  2. 2

    Measure Water

In a medium saucepan, measure out 2 cups of water. If you prefer softer rice, you can use 2.5 cups of water.

  3. 3

    Add Ingredients to Saucepan

Add the rinsed rice, 0.5 tsp of salt, and optional butter or oil to the saucepan with water.

  4. 4

    Bring to a Boil

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  5. 5

    Reduce Heat and Cover

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Cook for about 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

After 18-20 minutes, check if the rice has absorbed all the water and is tender. If it’s not done, you can let it simmer for a few more minutes.

  7. 7

    Fluff the Rice

Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Then, use a fork to fluff the rice gently.

  8. 8

    Season (Optional)

If desired, sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper over the rice before serving. Mix gently to combine.
