Sticky Rice

Method

Prepare the Sticky Rice

  1. 1

    Soak the Rice

Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Steam the Rice

Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the grains are translucent and tender.

  3. 3

    Mix with Coconut Milk

In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir gently to combine and let it sit for about 15 minutes.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 4

    Slice the Mango

Peel the ripe mangoes and cut them into thin slices or cubes, depending on your preference.

  2. 5

    Toast the Sesame Seeds

In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the sesame seeds for 2-3 minutes until they are golden and fragrant. Be careful not to burn them.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 6

    Serve

On a serving plate, place a portion of the sticky rice and top it with sliced mango. Drizzle with additional coconut milk and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve warm or at room temperature.
