Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Mix the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a smooth dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, mix the ground pork, chopped cabbage, grated carrot, chopped green onions, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
- 4
Season the Filling
Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to the meat and vegetable mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
Dumpling Assembly
- 5
Roll the Dough
After the dough has rested, divide it into small pieces and roll each piece into a thin circle (about 3 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin.
- 6
Fill the Dumplings
Place a tablespoon of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
Steaming
- 7
Prepare the Steamer
Set up a steamer over boiling water. You can use a bamboo steamer or a metal steamer basket lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- 8
Steam the Dumplings
Arrange the dumplings in a single layer in the steamer basket, making sure they don’t touch. Cover and steam for about 15-20 minutes until the filling is cooked through.
