Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.

  5. 5

    Pour into Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Make the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth.

  2. 9

    Add Milk and Vanilla

Add the milk and vanilla extract to the frosting and beat until creamy and well combined. Adjust the consistency with more milk if necessary.

  3. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cake has cooled completely, use a spatula to spread the frosting evenly over the top of the cake.
