Method
Preparation
- 1
Clean the Seafood
Rinse the clams and mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or sand.
- 2
Make the Sauce
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- 3
Add Tomatoes and Wine
Stir in the diced tomatoes and white wine. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 4
Add Seafood
Add the cleaned clams and mussels to the pot. Cover and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until all the shells have opened. Discard any that remain closed.
- 5
Season
Stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6
Toast the Bread
While the seafood is cooking, toast the slices of crusty bread until golden brown.
- 7
Serve
Ladle the seafood and sauce over the toasted bread and serve immediately.
