Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Sauté Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes

Add the canned whole tomatoes (with their juice) to the pan. Use a spoon or potato masher to break them up into smaller pieces.

  3. 3

    Season the Sauce

Stir in the chopped basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add the sugar.

  4. 4

    Simmer

Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to your desired consistency.

  5. 5

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more salt, pepper, or sugar as desired.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve hot over pasta, or use it as a base for other dishes.
