Method

Marinating the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tablespoon of minced ginger. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Shrimp

Add 1 pound of peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade. Ensure the shrimp is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Preparing the Sauce

  1. 3

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of Chinese black vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, and 0.5 cup of chicken broth until well blended.

Cooking the Dish

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 5

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the marinated shrimp to the hot skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turns pink and is cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 6

    Stir-Fry Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the diced bell pepper, zucchini, and sliced green onions. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.

  4. 7

    Combine and Add Sauce

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the shrimp and vegetables. Stir to combine and let it cook for another 2 minutes to heat through.

  5. 8

    Add Peanuts

Finally, stir in 0.5 cup of roasted peanuts and mix well before serving.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Hot

Serve the Kung Pao Shrimp hot over steamed rice or noodles, if desired.
