Tofu Preparation

Method

Tofu Preparation

  1. 1

    Press the Tofu

Remove the tofu from its package, drain the liquid, and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Place a heavy object on top (like a cast-iron skillet) for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Cut the Tofu

Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

  3. 3

    Coat the Tofu

In a mixing bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until they are evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tofu

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the tofu and drain on paper towels.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, red pepper flakes, cornstarch, and water. Whisk until well combined and the cornstarch is dissolved.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

In the same skillet used to fry the tofu, add the broccoli florets, sliced bell pepper, and sliced carrot. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.

Combining and Serving

  1. 7

    Combine Tofu and Sauce

Add the crispy tofu back into the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture. Stir to coat everything evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
