Method

Marinate Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare Marinade

In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and eggs. Whisk until well blended.

  2. 2

    Marinate Chicken

Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and let marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.

  3. 3

    Coat Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in cornstarch until evenly coated.

Prepare Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, chili paste, chicken broth, cornstarch, and water. Bring to a simmer.

  2. 5

    Thicken Sauce

Cook the sauce, stirring frequently, until it thickens to your desired consistency, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Fry Chicken

  1. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 7

    Fry Chicken

Working in batches, add the chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Combine and Serve

  1. 8

    Combine Chicken and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, toss the fried chicken with the thickened sauce until evenly coated.

  2. 9

    Garnish

Transfer the General Tso's chicken to a serving tray. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

  3. 10

    Serve with Rice

Serve hot with cooked rice on the side.
