Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, combine sliced beef, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, black pepper, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare Garlic and Green Onions

Mince the garlic cloves and chop the green onions into small pieces, separating the green parts from the white parts.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 5

    Cook the Beef

Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 6

    Sauté Garlic

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 7

    Make the Sauce

Add beef broth, remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

  5. 8

    Combine Everything

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and add the white parts of the green onions. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.

  6. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, garnish with the green parts of the green onions, and serve hot with rice or noodles.
