Method

Preparation of the Marinade

  1. 1

    Make the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.

Marinating the Steak

  1. 2

    Marinate the Flank Steak

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the excess marinade. Grill the steak for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Serving

  1. 4

    Slice and Serve

Slice the grilled steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve the carne asada with shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, and guacamole on the side.
