Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the native shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.

Prepare the Egg Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until well combined.

Coat the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture.

Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
