Rice Pilaf Preparation
- 1
- 2
Cook the Rice
Add the long-grain rice to the saucepan, stirring to coat the rice with the oil and onions. Add the vegetable broth, salt, black pepper, cumin, and turmeric. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
- 3
Fluff the Rice
Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Falafel Preparation
- 4
- 5
Shape the Falafel
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add flour and baking powder. Mix until well combined. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties.
- 6
Fry the Falafel
In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry the falafel balls in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Assembly
- 7
Assemble the Rice Bowl
In a serving bowl, place a generous scoop of rice pilaf. Top with 3 falafel balls, diced tomatoes, and sliced red onions. Drizzle with tahini sauce or your sauce of choice.
