Pita Preparation

Method

Pita Preparation

  1. 1

    Cutting the Pita

Begin by cutting each pita bread into 8 wedges. You can do this by slicing each pita in half and then cutting each half into 4 triangles.

  2. 2

    Seasoning the Pita

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, and black pepper. Mix well until the spices are fully incorporated into the oil.

  3. 3

    Coating the Pita

Place the pita wedges in a large bowl and drizzle the seasoned olive oil mixture over them. Toss the wedges gently to ensure they are evenly coated with the oil and spices.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heating the Oil

In a large, deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of pita; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Frying the Pita Wedges

Carefully add a few pita wedges to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the wedges for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil.

  3. 6

    Draining Excess Oil

Place the fried pita crisps on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Sprinkle with additional salt if desired.

  4. 7

    Serving

Repeat the frying process until all the pita wedges are cooked. Serve the pita crisps warm with your choice of dip or as a crunchy snack.
