Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F), sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, garlic powder, and parsley. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 10 minutes.
- 5
Shape the Breadsticks
After the first rise, punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces (approximately 8). Roll each piece into a long stick shape.
- 6
Second Rise
Place the shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 5 minutes.
- 7
Bake
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the breadsticks for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
