Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Fish
Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Make the Breading
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, beat the egg with milk.
Fry the Fish
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated fish fillets. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Assemble the Sandwich
Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spread tartar sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a piece of fried fish on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve
Serve the fish sandwiches hot with extra tartar sauce on the side and enjoy!
