Method
Fried Chicken Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine chicken wingettes and drumettes with buttermilk. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd. Fry for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
