Deep Fried Pickled Cauliflower
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Pickle the Cauliflower
Begin by cutting the cauliflower into florets. Place them in a bowl and pour the pickling liquid over them. Allow to marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add cold water while mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep saucepan or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Cauliflower
Remove the cauliflower from the pickling liquid and let excess liquid drip off. Dip each floret into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Cauliflower
Carefully lower the coated cauliflower into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried cauliflower from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with Awesome Blossom sauce for dipping.
