Preparation Instructions

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

2

Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) until smooth, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in the Gran Gala liqueur.

3

Whisk Eggs and Sugar

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg and sugar mixture until well combined. Be careful not to deflate the eggs.

5

Add Remaining Ingredients

Sift the cocoa powder and add it along with the orange zest and a pinch of salt to the batter. Fold until just combined.

6

Bake the Torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

7

Cool and Serve

Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar or cocoa powder before serving, if desired.
