Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Delicata Squash
Slice the delicata squash into rings about 1/2 inch thick and remove the seeds.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the masarepa with water and salt. Mix until a thick batter forms.
- 3
Coat the Squash Rings
Dip each squash ring into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 4
Fry the Rings
In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the battered squash rings until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Prepare the Toppings
While the rings are frying, chop the scallions and zest the lemon. Cut the provolone piccante into small pieces.
- 6
Plate and Serve
On a serving plate, arrange the fried delicata rings. Top with provolone piccante, scallions, a drizzle of Hawthorne honey, a squeeze of lemon juice, and sprinkle with Aleppo pepper.
