Preparation Steps
- 1
Cook the Fries
Preheat your oven and cook the frozen French fries according to package instructions until golden and crispy.
- 2
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, green bell pepper, and red onion. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 3
Cook the Steak Tips
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the beef steak tips. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook until browned and cooked to your desired doneness, about 4-6 minutes for medium rare. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
Make the Cheese Sauce
In the same skillet, add the flour and stir for 1 minute to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the beer, making sure to break up any lumps. Continue to whisk until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- 5
Assemble the Poutine
On a serving plate, layer the crispy fries, sautéed vegetables, and steak tips. Drizzle generously with the cheddar beer cheese sauce. Serve immediately while hot.
