Method
Onion Rings Directions
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually add cold water, whisking until the batter is smooth and has no lumps.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 365°F (185°C).
- 4
Batter the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes, turning occasionally.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
