Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Coffee Mixture

Brew a cup of strong espresso or coffee. In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee, granulated sugar, and coffee liqueur (if using). Stir until the sugar dissolves and set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cream Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar (2 tbsp) together until they become pale and creamy. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form, then fold it gently into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Lay them side by side in a single layer at the bottom of a baking dish.

  2. 4

    Layer the Cream

Spread half of the mascarpone-cream mixture over the soaked ladyfingers evenly.

  3. 5

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the cream mixture, followed by the remaining mascarpone-cream mixture.

Chill and Serve

  1. 6

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

  2. 7

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired. Cut into squares and enjoy!
