Method

Preparation

1

Make the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, almond extract, chopped almonds, green onions, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until smooth and well combined.

2

Prepare Wonton Wrappers

Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Keep them covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out while you work.

Assembly

3

Fill the Wrappers

Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle, pressing to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets.

4

Seal the Edges

For an extra secure seal, you can crimp the edges with a fork.

Cooking

5

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot (around 350°F or 175°C).

6

Fry the Rangoon

Carefully add the filled wontons to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
