Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess salt and preservatives.

  2. 2

Roast the Red Peppers (if not using jarred)

If using fresh red peppers, roast them over an open flame or in an oven at 400°F (200°C) until the skin is charred. Let them cool, then peel off the skin and remove the seeds. If using jarred, simply drain them.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and chop them roughly to ensure they blend well into the hummus.

Blending

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, roasted red peppers, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, ground cumin, paprika, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Blend Until Smooth

Process the mixture on high speed until it becomes a smooth, creamy consistency. If the hummus is too thick, add a little water or additional olive oil until the desired texture is reached.

Serving

  1. 6

    Taste and Adjust Seasoning

Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt, lemon juice, or spices according to your preference.

  2. 7

    Serve

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with additional paprika or cumin if desired. Serve with pita bread, veggie sticks, or crackers.
