- 2
- 3
Add Flavorings
Stir in the thyme leaves and balsamic vinegar, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 4
Mix in Cheeses
Once the onion mixture has cooled, combine it with the cream cheese and grated Gruyère cheese in a bowl. Mix well until fully combined.
Pastry Preparation
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 6
Prepare Puff Pastry
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut each sheet into squares (approximately 4x4 inches).
- 7
Fill Puff Pastry
Place about 1 tablespoon of the onion and cheese mixture in the center of each square. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket and pinch to seal.
- 8
Egg Wash
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the pastry puffs with the egg wash.
- 9
Bake
Arrange the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the pastry puffs cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
