For the Honey Lacquered Roasted Duck

Prepare the Duck
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Rinse the duck under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Remove any excess fat from the cavity.

Make the Marinade
In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, five spice powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Marinate the Duck
Rub the marinade all over the duck, including under the skin and inside the cavity. Let the duck marinate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

Rest and Serve
Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. Serve with Tokyo turnips and huckleberry compote.
For the Tokyo Turnips

Prepare the Turnips
While the duck is roasting, peel the Tokyo turnips and cut them into quarters.

Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
For the Huckleberry Compote

Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine huckleberries, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and water.

Cook the Compote
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for about 5-10 minutes until it thickens.

Cool and Serve
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving alongside the duck.
