Method

Chocolate Cake

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool.

Chocolate Crème

  1. 6

    Melt the Chocolate

In a double boiler or microwave, melt the dark chocolate until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

  2. 7

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.

  3. 8

    Combine Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thick.

  4. 9

    Mix Ingredients Together

Gradually add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, folding gently. Then fold in the whipped cream until fully incorporated.

  5. 10

    Chill the Crème

Transfer the chocolate crème to serving cups and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Caramel Center

  1. 11

    Make the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns a golden brown color.

  2. 12

    Add Cream and Butter

Remove from heat and carefully stir in the heavy cream and butter until smooth.

  3. 13

    Add Salt

Stir in the sea salt and let the caramel cool slightly before using.

Amarula Ice Cream

  1. 14

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, condensed milk, and Amarula liqueur until smooth.

  2. 15

    Freeze the Mixture

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, or freeze in a container for 4-6 hours, stirring every hour.
