Onion Rings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings, about 1/2 inch thick. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dip and Fry

Dip each onion ring into the beer batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the dipped rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm.
