Onion Rings Directions
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- 3
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring in the batter, making sure it's fully coated, then roll it in the bread crumbs to coat completely.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully drop the coated onion rings into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the onion rings warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
