Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Slice the mushrooms and onion. Dice the tomato and wash the lettuce leaves.

  2. 2

    Cook the Mushrooms and Onions

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they become translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and sauté for another 5-7 minutes until they are browned and tender. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Burgers

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, the cooked burger patty with melted Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and the sliced tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
