Ingredients for IPA Fish + Chips

Method

Cooking Directions for IPA Fish + Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries. Soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Onion Strings

Slice the onion into thin rings. Soak in buttermilk for about 30 minutes, then drain and coat lightly with flour.

  3. 3

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Gradually whisk in the IPA beer until smooth.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.

  5. 5

    Fry the Fish

Dip the fish fillets into the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Fry the Onion Strings

Fry the onion rings in the same oil until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the IPA battered fish alongside crispy fries and onion strings. Enjoy with tartar sauce and lemon wedges, if desired.
