Fried Calamari

Preparation and Cooking

Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Coat the Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until fully coated.

Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

Add Vegetables
In the last minute of frying, add the artichoke hearts, jalapeños, and sweet red peppers to the oil and cook until they are slightly tender.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari and vegetables from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara and remoulade sauce on the side.
