Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. Preheat your grill to high heat. Rub the steaks with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Grill the Steaks

Place the filet mignon steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness (130-135°F for medium-rare). Remove from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Make the Maître d'Butter

In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, chopped parsley, and minced garlic. Mix well and set aside.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

In a large pot, boil the potatoes until they are fork-tender. Drain and return to the pot. Add milk, butter, and salt. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  5. 5

    Serve

Spoon the mashed potatoes onto plates, place the rested filet mignon on top, and top each steak with a dollop of the maître d'butter. Serve immediately.
