Clam Chowder Ingredients

Method

Clam Chowder Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the pot.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same pot, add the diced onion and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

  3. 3

    Add Potatoes and Broth

Add the diced potatoes, chicken broth, thyme, and bay leaf to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Clams and Cream

Stir in the chopped clams and heavy cream. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.

  5. 5

    Season and Serve

Remove the bay leaf, season with salt and black pepper to taste. Crumble the reserved bacon on top and serve hot.
