Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add ground beef, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Make the Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Layer the Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the process with another layer of noodles, cheese mixture, and meat sauce. Top with remaining noodles and finish with the rest of the meat sauce. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

Baking

  1. 5

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  2. 6

    Rest and Serve

Once baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
