Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Once the water is boiling, add the pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and toss with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Garlic

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Do not let it brown.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine.

  4. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

Combine and Serve

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the tomato sauce and toss to coat evenly.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the pasta hot, garnished with fresh basil or grated cheese if desired.
