Method

Chips Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangles or strips, depending on your preference.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla pieces to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Salsa Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeño pepper. Remove seeds from the jalapeño if you prefer less heat.

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Season the Salsa

Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture and add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.

  4. 8

    Let it Marinate

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes at room temperature to let the flavors meld together.
