Cheese and Coating
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Cut the queso blanco or paneer into bite-sized cubes, about 1-inch thick.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
In one shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Cheese
Dredge each cheese cube in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip in the beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Cheese
Carefully add the breaded cheese cubes to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried cheese from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm as an appetizer.
