Pork Filling
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Pork Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, and chopped green onion. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- 2
Cook the Filling
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the pork mixture and cook, stirring frequently, until the pork is fully cooked and slightly caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 3
Prepare the Buns
While the pork is cooling, prepare your favorite bao bun dough or use store-bought bao buns. If making from scratch, follow the dough recipe and allow it to rise until doubled in size.
- 4
Assemble the Buns
Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each piece into a circle. Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.
- 5
Steam the Buns
Place the assembled buns in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes or until the buns are fluffy and cooked through.
- 6
Serve
Remove the buns from the steamer and serve hot with Sriracha sauce on the side.
