Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C) for slow cooking the brisket.
- 2
Make the Rub
In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, and brown sugar. Mix well to create a spice rub.
- 3
Prepare the Brisket
Trim any excess fat from the brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch of fat cap. Pat the brisket dry with paper towels.
- 4
Apply the Rub
Generously apply the spice rub all over the brisket, ensuring it is well coated. Allow the brisket to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Cooking
- 5
Place in Roasting Pan
Place the seasoned brisket in a roasting pan, fat side up.
- 6
Add Liquid
In a separate bowl, mix together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Pour the mixture into the bottom of the roasting pan.
- 7
Cover and Cook
Cover the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil. Cook in the preheated oven for about 6-8 hours, or until the brisket is tender and has an internal temperature of at least 195°F (90°C).
- 8
Rest the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Serving
- 9
Slice and Serve
Slice the brisket against the grain into thin slices. Drizzle with optional BBQ sauce if desired, and serve with your favorite sides.
