Tea Base

Tapioca Pearls

Method

Prepare the Tea Base

  1. 1

    Brew the Tea

In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves, and let steep for 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, strain the tea into a bowl and stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar until dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Cook the Tapioca Pearls

  1. 3

    Boil the Pearls

In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 cup of tapioca pearls and cook for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Sweeten the Pearls

Once cooked, drain the pearls and rinse them under cold water. Transfer them to a bowl and mix in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar to sweeten.

Combine Ingredients

  1. 5

    Mix Milk and Flavoring

In a separate container, combine 1 cup of whole milk (or non-dairy milk) with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Drink

In a serving glass, add a portion of the sweetened tapioca pearls, followed by the cooled tea, and then pour in the milk mixture. Stir well.
