Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Mix Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for about 10 minutes. Then, add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.

Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 4

    Make Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.

Fry Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep saucepan or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  2. 6

    Pipe Dough

Once the oil is hot, transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.

  3. 7

    Fry Churros

Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the dough with a pair of kitchen scissors. Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  4. 8

    Coat Churros

Using a slotted spoon, remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels. While they are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
