Method
Preparation
- 1
Press the Tofu
Begin by pressing the firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or paper towel and place a heavy object on top. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, and water until well combined.
Cooking
- 3
Cut and Marinate the Tofu
Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into cubes or slices as desired. Place the tofu in a shallow dish and pour half of the teriyaki sauce over it. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
Cook the Tofu
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the marinated tofu and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Pour the remaining teriyaki sauce into the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the tofu.

Garnish and Serve
Remove the tofu from heat and transfer to a serving plate. If desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.
