Method

Tofu Preparation

  1. 1

    Pressing Tofu

Begin by pressing the firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cutting Tofu

After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, approximately 1-inch squares.

Marinade

  1. 3

    Prepare Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, lime juice, and chili powder. Mix well to create a marinade.

  2. 4

    Marinate Tofu

Add the cubed tofu to the marinade, gently tossing to ensure all pieces are well coated. Allow the tofu to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Frying

  1. 5

    Coating Tofu

After marinating, sprinkle cornstarch, salt, and black pepper over the tofu. Gently toss to coat each piece evenly.

  2. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large frying pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 7

    Fry Tofu

Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  4. 8

    Drain Tofu

Once fried, use a slotted spoon to transfer the tofu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Garnish

  1. 9

    Garnishing Tofu

Before serving, sprinkle the fried tofu with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
