Method
Preparation of Filling
- 1
Mix the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well integrated.
Assembling the Rangoon
- 2
Fill the Wontons
Take one wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the crab filling in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water using your fingertip.
- 3
Fold the Wontons
Fold the wonton in half to create a triangle, pressing the edges to seal. For a decorative touch, you can pinch the edges or twist the top to give it a distinctive shape. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 180°C (350°F).
- 5
Fry the Wontons
Carefully add the wontons to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 6
Serve the Crab Rangoon
Serve the hot crab rangoons immediately with your choice of dipping sauce such as sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
