Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the Wagyu skirt steak. Allow the steak to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned steak in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Crispy Onion Preparation

  1. 4

    Soak the Onions

Slice the large onion thinly and soak it in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and infuse flavor.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 7

    Fry the Onions

Remove the onions from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge the soaked onions in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Carefully place the coated onions in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
