Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Bake the Fries

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the frozen French fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Fries

Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through the cooking time.

Steak Topping Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

While the fries are baking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the beef steak with salt and black pepper. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly.

  2. 4

    Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened and caramelized. Remove from heat.

  3. 5

    Assemble the Topping

In the skillet, combine the sliced steak, sautéed onions, and mushrooms. Mix gently to combine and heat through for about 2 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Top the Fries

Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven and immediately layer the steak mixture on top of the fries.

  2. 7

    Add Cheese

Place slices of white American cheese over the steak and fry topping. Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
