Meatballs

Toppings and Serving

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer together for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Stir in the fresh basil before serving.

Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare for Serving

Slice the provolone cheese and set aside. Grate the Romano cheese and put it in a shaker for easy serving.

  2. 8

    Serve the Meatball Bar

Place the meatballs and marinara sauce in a large serving dish. Offer the sliced provolone, grated Romano cheese, and baked rolls on the side for guests to build their own meatball sandwiches.
